Davide Fasiello is an Italian pianist and contemporary composer known for his minimalist style, which intertwines piano harmonies with ambient and cinematic atmospheres. Originally from Oria, Fasiello draws on deep emotions, crafting music that invites listeners to reflect and connect with themselves. As one of his inspirations suggests, “Music is the voice of the soul that cannot be expressed in words,” and his pieces often become inner journeys, needing no dialogue. Currently, Davide is studying Composition Applied to Electronic Music at the Conservatory of Lecce, where he continues to explore new sonic horizons. Over the course of his career, he has participated in various festivals, both as a pianist and as a sound designer for multidisciplinary projects, further enriching his artistic language and expanding his versatility.

He has released albums like Paths, which explore emotional themes through delicate, hypnotic melodies. His music, somewhat reminiscent of Ludovico Einaudi ’s work, finds expression in heartfelt compositions such as Geometria dei Cieli and Verità Sospese. Fasiello’s style echoes the thought of philosopher Nietzsche: “Without music, life would be a mistake.”

1. When and how did you realize that your whole life would be linked to music?

I realized that music would be my life’s path when I first touched the keys of a piano as a teenager. Although I started with the saxophone at 12, it was the piano that unlocked a profound emotional connection. Music quickly became not just a passion but a way to communicate what words could never express.

2. Which composer has most influenced your musical imagination?

It’s hard to name just one! I draw inspiration from the minimalism of Ludovico Einaudi, Ólafur Arnalds, Ryuichi Sakamoto, and Philip Glass, but also from the structure and beauty of Baroque and Classical masters like Bach and Mozart. Each of them has shaped the way I think about melody, harmony, and storytelling through music.

3. What is your main creative motto?

“Music is the voice of the soul that cannot be expressed in words.” This idea drives my work, as I aim to create music that resonates deeply and communicates emotions beyond language. I’m also inspired by Hemingway’s reflection: “Something stops while you are still alive. The rest goes on and you with that.” To me, music captures those moments—the stillness and the motion—offering a way to navigate through them and make sense of the unspeakable.

4. What would you like to express during your performance at the festival? What will your program consist of and why this choice?

During my performance, I hope to take the audience on an emotional journey, creating moments of introspection and connection. My program will include original compositions that blend minimalist harmonies with cinematic atmospheres. These pieces reflect personal experiences and universal emotions, chosen to inspire a sense of calm and wonder.

5. What goals do you set for yourself, what projects do you have on the horizon?

My main goal is to continue evolving as an artist, both in composing and performing. I’m currently working on new pieces that explore the intersection of acoustic and electronic sounds, as well as a collaborative project that merges music with visual art. Expanding my audience and bringing my music to new stages around the world is also a priority.

6. How do you see the future of piano music?

I see piano music as a continuously evolving art form. With its unique versatility, the piano bridges tradition and innovation, allowing for endless exploration. I believe the future lies in blending classical techniques with contemporary sounds and integrating new technologies to expand its expressive potential.

7. What does Paris represent for you, do you have a special relationship with this city and why did you accept the invitation to participate in the festival?

Paris represents a city of timeless elegance and artistic inspiration. It has a rich musical history that has shaped the careers of so many great artists. I accepted the invitation to participate in the festival because it’s an honor to bring my music to such a vibrant cultural stage, and I hope to connect with an audience that shares my passion for music as a universal language.
